HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT over $5000

Seed money for charitable causesAll organizations requesting funds from the Levin Family Foundation must follow the following steps:

  1. Contact the foundation office and talk with the Executive Director, Karen Levin.
  2. Send a Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Executive Director. This letter should be approximately one page. It should contain information regarding the project that the organization would like to develop and the estimated amount of money that the organization will be requesting.
  3. Upon receipt of the Letter of Intent, the Levin Family Foundation sends a letter. There are three possible outcomes. The requesting organization may be told to proceed with the proposal; they may be told that there idea has merit, but changes might be suggested; or, the foundation would not be interested in the project. If the requesting organization is told to modify the project, they will submit a second Letter of Intent.
  4. Once a project has passed the Letter of Intent stage, the organization then is encouraged to develop a proposal.
  5. All proposals should be submitted on or before the designated date. The proposal package being submitted must include:
    • One hard copy of the complete proposal
    • One disk or CD containing a copy of the complete proposal
    • 6 additional copies of the first page of the application
    • DO NOT STAPLE, USE BINDERS OR FOLDERS
    • Any proposal package deviating from the above steps will be returned to the submitting organization.
  6. Upon receipt of the application package, an email is sent stating the foundation office received the information and the project will be placed on the agenda for action by the Trustees at the next disbursement meeting.
  7. A letter is mailed out to the submitting organization regarding the status of the program funding within one week of the disbursement meeting.
  8. All funded programs are required to submit an end of year/end of project report within one calendar year of their funding. Failure to submit this document will result in the delinquent organization being barred from submitting future grants or receiving additional funds in the case of multi-year grants.
  9. The amount of detail required in the end of year/end of project report will vary depending upon the amount of funding awarded to a program.
