how to apply
for Grants up to $5,000
All organizations requesting funds from the Levin Family
Foundation must follow the following steps:
- Contact the foundation office and talk with the Executive
Director, Karen Levin.
- Send a Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Executive Director. This
letter should be approximately one page. It
should contain information regarding the project that
the organization would like to develop and the estimated
amount of money that the organization will be requesting.
- Upon receipt of the Letter of Intent, the Levin Family
Foundation sends a letter. There are three possible
outcomes, the requesting organization may be told:
- To proceed with the proposal
- Their idea has merit, but changes are suggested. Make
the changes and submit a second Letter of Intent.
- The foundation would not be interested
in the project.
- Once a project has passed the Letter of Intent stage,
the organization then is encouraged to develop a proposal.
- All proposals should be submitted on or before
the designated date. The proposal package
being submitted must include:
- 6 copies of the first page of the application
- 6 copies of the Executive Summary
- Composition of Board Members
- Financials are NOT
required if you have submitted
in the past
- CD or DISK with proposal
DO NOT STAPLE OR PUT INTO BINDER/FOLDERS-ANY
APPLICANTS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THIS WILL HAVE THEIR
APPLICATION RETURNED TO THEM
- Upon receipt of the application package, a letter
is sent stating the foundation office received the
information and the project will be placed on the agenda
for action by the Trustees at the next disbursement
meeting.
- A letter is mailed out to the submitting organization
regarding the status of the program funding within
one week of the disbursement meeting.
- All funded programs are required to submit an end
of year/end of project report within one calendar year
of their funding. Failure to submit this document
will result in the delinquent organization being barred
from submitting future grants or receiving additional
funds in the case of multi-year grants.
- The amount of detail required in the end of year/end
of project report will vary depending upon the amount
of funding awarded to a program. The foundation
is in the process of preparing suggested guidelines
for this document. We will be sending out information
when it becomes available.
